90% FULL TORCH BANDS = FTB 90FT or 90FB
On the reverse of the Mercury Dime the torch must exhibit full bands at the top and 90% of the cross bands in the middle and bottom of the torch. The three sets of bands will be well defined and separated in the center of the bands. They will exhibit 90% of the center length of the bands and weakness at the ends of the bands or in the center of bands. Bands are visible in the fasces, a symbol that signifies strength of the major design element of the reverse. All bands are separated by a line, which must be 90% complete. Whether or not a coin exhibits this depends on the striking pressure the dies were set to when the coin was struck.
